Writing Out the Storm

Let’s go back to snail mail and create postcards with friends and a cold beverage by “Writing” Out the Storm on Sunday, June 14 from 6 to 8 pm at Miss Angeline’s!

We’re designing and writing postcards with messages of support for some of the community members who need it the most: OUTreach Denton’s Spectrum teens and/or the Prairieland Defenders. You can also write to your representatives to advocate for a more just Texas. Either, both, whatever feels good to you!

We’ll be providing the supplies: postcard paper, markers, writing utensils, stickers, etc. We can brainstorm our words and design our postcards together!

WHAT TO EXPECT

▪️There is a ramp to the right of the venue when standing in front. Wheelchair accessible tables and chairs are available on wood floors in the front, back, and side patios. Additional picnic tables and benches are located in the back on gravel.

▪️Alcohol will be on premises. Miss Angeline’s does have non-alcoholic beverage options such as non-alcoholic beer, mocktails, and soda.

Co-Work with Stoke

“What’s a Stoke?”

Stoke is a local, queer-owned co-working space for entrepreneurs, artists, and community organizations.

On June 5, Stoke will open their doors for Pride! We’ll be networking, creating, expressing, collaborating, and clacking away on our laptops. Stoke will provide the free space, outlets, WiFi, and will also have some complimentary beverages on hand. Table/desk and outlet spaces are first-come, first-serve. This is a come-and-go event so hang out for as long or as little as you’d like.

This is just the place to explore your big ideas, connect with other community members, or maybe hunker down on a project you’ve been working on. So think about what you want to work on that day: Advocacy? Art? A passion project? Community-building? The PRIDENTON team will work alongside you, and we’ll be taking plenty of breaks to connect.

For more information about Stoke, visit stokedenton.com.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Accessibility: There are ramps on the sidewalks leading to the front and backdoor entrances to the building.

Sensory Regulation: We will be in an open, common area but there will be designated quiet areas for folks needing focus or sensory rest, consider bringing noise-cancelling headphones if needed.

Parking: Free street parking is available along Hickory in addition to the surrounding parking lots. More options are at dentonmainstreet.org/pages/parking.

💌 Please contact PRIDENTON at info@pridenton.org if you need an accommodation to fully participate in an event due to a disability. Please make the request as soon as possible to allow sufficient time to arrange the accommodation.
