Therapy scholarship program
Purpose
The Therapy Scholarship Program was created to help LGBTQIA2S+ individuals in Denton access affirming, affordable mental health care. The program will cover the cost of therapy at $50 per session for up to 12 sessions (with up to 3 additional sessions if recommended by the therapist). We’re currently gathering feedback from local therapists, both LGBTQIA2S+ identified and allied, to ensure the program structure works well for providers and clients alike.
How it works
Therapist Participation
Interested therapists will complete a short intake form to join our Partner Provider Directory.
Providers must agree to the scholarship rate of $50 per session and be affirming of LGBTQIA2S+ identities.
Providers can be independent practitioners or part of a group practice.
PRIDENTON will maintain a simple agreement outlining payment terms, privacy expectations, and reporting processes (limited to session verification only).
Client Access & Matching
Clients will apply for the Therapy Scholarship through PRIDENTON.
Once approved, they’ll receive a list of participating therapists from the Partner Provider Directory.
Clients will contact their chosen therapist directly to schedule sessions, mentioning that they are part of the PRIDENTON Therapy Scholarship Program.
Payment & Vouchers
Once a client begins therapy, PRIDENTON will provide the therapist with a unique client case number.
Therapists will submit a brief invoice (or voucher) to PRIDENTON after each session, referencing the case number only.
PRIDENTON will issue payment directly to the provider (via check, PayPal, or ACH) within 10 business days of invoice receipt.
No client identifying information will be shared beyond the case number to protect confidentiality.
Session Limits & Extensions
The program covers 12 sessions per client.
Therapists may request up to 3 additional sessions (total of 15) if clinically indicated and funds permit.
Therapists simply email PRIDENTON with a brief note requesting continuation (no detailed clinical justification required).
Feedback & Reporting
To maintain accountability, therapists will confirm the number of sessions completed and general outcomes (attendance, completion, continued need).
Clients may also be invited to provide anonymous feedback to help strengthen the program.
